Who is ADVi? Is ADVi a person?
ADVi is a chatbot, powered by artificial intelligence, who is available 24/7. ADVi doesn’t know everything, but they have a lot of information about applying to college, completing the FAFSA (or TASFA), college readiness, and more!
What can I ask ADVi?
You can ask ADVi all questions related to attending a public college or university in the state of Texas, including things like how financial aid works, what tests you need to take, how to transfer credits, and how to access campus resources. ADVi provides general information but can also connect you with advisers at specific colleges if you have a college or university in mind.
What if ADVi can’t answer my question?
Don’t worry, we’ve got your back! If ADVi does not know the answer to your question, a live college adviser will step in to assist you with your question within 48 hours.
How do I ask ADVi a question?
To ask ADVi a question and opt-in to support from ADVi, text “COLLEGE” to 512-829-3687. You may also opt in by starting your freshman application in ApplyTexas.
Do I have to ask ADVi things in a certain way to get ADVi to respond?
ADVi does best when you as a single question per message. Keep it simple! If you don’t get the right answer, try asking your question in a different way, or texting #followup to prompt one of our advisers to respond.

Does ADVi know specifics about registering at any particular college?
ADVi has general information about public colleges and universities in Texas. At this time, ADVi only provides basic information about specific colleges. For example, ADVi cannot answer specific questions about scholarships available at The University of Texas, but they can answer general questions like, “Where can I get scholarships?”
Do I need a smartphone to communicate with ADVi?
No, you can communicate with ADVi on any phone that can receive text messages.
Does ADVi speak Spanish or any languages other than English?
ADVi currently only speaks English. Lo siento. We are working on expanding our capacity to respond to questions asked in Spanish or other languages.
Who made ADVi?
ADVi is managed by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and AdmitHub.
How do I get ADVi at my school / in my district / at my institution?
Right now, any student in Texas may access ADVi by texting “COLLEGE” to 512-829-3687 or starting a freshman application in ApplyTexas.
